Richfield Trip

It was great to finally see everyone again...even those that we met for the first time (Hi Cason:)!). We really enjoyed spending time with Grandma and Grandpa Hooper and loved that we could help out with the Christmas decorations. I'd have to say that I am a pretty good supervisor! Oh and if anyone needs my wonderful peanut brittle OR pumpkin roll recipe, just let me know. I whip them out like crazy over here all the time:)! Oh, Paul & Becca...just call me Jackie Lopez, k? Thanks to everyone who made our trip that much more special and we can't wait to see you all again!

The Starfish Story

Once upon a time there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing.

He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.

One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer.

He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day,

and so he walked faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he noticed the figure was that of a young girl.

And that what she was doing was not dancing at all, the young girl was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean.

He came closer still and called out, "Good morning, may I ask what it is that you are doing?",

the young girl paused, looked up and replied, "Throwing starfish into the ocean".

"I must ask then, why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?"asked the somewhat startled wise man.

To this the young girl replied, "The sun is up, and the tide is going out, if you don't throw them in, they will die".

Upon hearing this the wise man commented, "But young girl, do you realize that there are miles and miles of beach? And there are starfish all along every mile? You can't possibly make a difference."

At this, the young girl bent down, picked up yet another starfish, and threw it into the ocean.

As it met the water she said, "It made a difference for that one."

A request from Nick...

Nick wanted everyone to see what his dogs looked like...so here is my favorite picture ever of them:). We took them to the park that day, and they LOVED it!

Getting started...

Well, it took a little bit to get started on this thing, but here goes nothing! We really wanted to make a blog in order to stay connected with all of you!

Just to update all of you on what's going on with us....lately, we've been really busy with school and work. Nick's still working as a Campus Monitor at Burkholder Middle School and I'm a 4-year old Lead Teacher at the daycare..wohoo:). Nick is going to school once a week for Criminal Justice and I'm still in school (which seems as though it never ends..) at UNLV for Healthcare Administration and this spring I will be a Junior! When we aren't at work or school we are relaxing in our new home with our puppy, Toots (the min pin) who is loud and rowdy and my wonderful kitty, Keno!
